The Duskbloods is the Switch 2 game recently in a playable online test by FromSoftware. I saw a trailer about it a long time ago when people online thought it might have been a sequel to Bloodborne. It seemed like people went from being disappointed that it wasn’t a sequel to Bloodborne to intrigued that it was its own weird multiplayer thing.

I didn’t play the online test. I haven’t watched anyone play the online test for more than about thirty seconds. I have consumed everything I know about this game from Bluesky posts. Here is my official FAQ for The Duskbloods

What is The Duskbloods?

Duskbloods is a Soulslike multiplayer game coming soon for Switch 2 by Elden Ring developer FromSoftware. But it’s not really a Soulslike. It’s PvPvPe but then also I saw a post that said it was more like a MOBA. But also MOBAs can be PvPvPe right? But is that what they meant when they said it was a “Soulslike MOBA?”

From a brief gif I saw on Bluesky, it looked like you and you friends can gang up on big gnarly monsters together. Neat! It also appears that you can kill your friends! Okay! Just kinda whatever, huh? There’s a rush on a resource and I think it’s called “blood,” but I can’t be sure. They’ve done blood before in this way. Did they just do it again? Does Sony still own the rights to blood as a resource? Did they ever?

Who could say?

Can you create a character in The Duskbloods?

Despite the fact that every character I’ve seen looks like the first couple of random rolls in a Dark Souls Monster Factory episode, it appears to me that you cannot, in fact, create your own character in The Duskbloods. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing but people seem to be posting a lot about the characters you can select.

Who are the playable characters in The Duskbloods?

I have to be honest, I have more questions than answers for this one. It appears to me that you can select from six different characters. They are:

  • A Guy
  • Pervert
  • Vietnamese Woman
  • Corpse
  • Corpse 2
  • Pervert 2

I want to be clear. I’m in support of this. But I am asking you, dear reader, to check my work on this one. This can’t really be what it is, right? Is there some sort of time unlock like a fighting game where you’ll eventually get Cool Samurai or Floating Wizard? I kind of hope not!

When is The Duskbloods coming out?

There was just a test, right? But it ended early. Hmm. Okay I’m gonna say you can play The Duskbloods sometime between next week and July 2027. I saw 2026 somewhere, but you know how these things go. There’s a Grand Theft Auto game coming out this year, after all.

Should I play The Duskbloods?

Yeah I don’t know! Do you like Soulslikes? This one doesn’t seem like one of those, but it’s also getting its hooks into a lot of people I know who really love Soulslikes! Are you into teaming up with your friends to fight really gross looking wolf guys? You can do that (I think) in this one! Did you like the dueling stuff in Elden Ring? I sure didn’t, but that’s here, too.

It’s…all (???)…here for you in The Duskbloods. Coming soon for Switch 2.
