Replacing Mr. X as Boss of the Syndicate: A Review
Streets of Rage (Sega Genesis, 1991)
Absurdly ahead of its time
Being able to betray your buddies, beat them, and supplant the main villain at the finish line was mind-blowing for a 1991 console game. This isn't an RPG it's a beat-em up!
Mr. X is afraid
Your decision is so cold that Mr. X can't even fathom living on the same planet with you.
A throne fit for a (large) king
Because every single boss character is roughly twice the size of the player characters, whatever thrones Mr. X has built for himself will be extremely uncomfortable for Adam, Blaze, or Axel.
7.5 / 10
The ability to say “yes” to Mr. X was such a gateway into the exciting blue sky of role playing, all set to one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.
